KS2 Inclusive Cross Country Challenge

4th October 2024

KS2 Inclusive Cross Country Festival 2024

Our very first Inclusive sporting event of the calendar took place on Friday 4th October 2024 at Nursery Road Recreation Ground.

The KS2 Inclusive Cross Country Challenge Run is designed to encourage more participation in school sports and physical activity across the borough for a range of ages and abilities. It is a great first event of the season for children to feel a part of a community sports event with the emphasis on fun and participation with no times or placings awarded.

We were delighted to welcome 15 schools with over 200 children eager to take on the 800 metre course; some children taking part in a school sports event for the first time ever.

Added for the 2024 course were 6 obstacle challenges along the route for the children to navigate through, around and under! The high stepper hurdles, agility ladder, slalom poles, cargo crawl, hoop hop and dodgeball gauntlet tested a variety of different skills for the children along the way but each runner took them on with confidence and battled hard to reach the finish line, some with some impressive endurance and pace overall.

A very well done to all our participants and schools who were awarded with their own certificate for taking part in the challenge. Thank you to all the adults from each school for their efforts to arrange the trip and for assisting on the day.

We really appreciate your feedback. If there is anything you think that can help us improve this event for the future, please get in touch to let us know. Thank you
