16 schools, 6 pitches, 9 leaders, 170 children and hundreds of runs scored, were the key numbers taken away from today’s Best Team Development Cricket Competition.
All teams were split into 3 groups to play their matches and fortunately, we were blessed with perfect Cricket conditions.
Group A was topped by a strong Holy Trinity team with a 100% record from their 4 group stage matches. Hatfeild edged Aragon to second place, with Malmesbury and The Sherwood also competing in the tightest of the 3 groups.
Poplar Parrots were the Group B winners. The largest group of the competition also contained Morden, Poplar Polar Bears, Singlegate, Haslemere and St. Thomas.
Group C was dominated by St. Matthew’s, who won all 4 of their games. Dundonald, Pelham, St. Mary’s and Merton Park all played some outstanding cricket.
Pelham were voted the REFSPECT winners for their outstanding fair play and sportsmanship throughout the event.
Thanks as always to Old Ruts for hosting us for the second time this week, and to Rutlish School for providing leaders to umpire the games. The staff from Singlegate commented how engaged and positive the leader on their pitch was during the matches, which was great to hear.
