Year 5/6 Best Team Football Development Competition

25th October 2024

Well done to all who took part at our Year 5/6 Development Football Competition. 16 schools made their way to Tooting & Mitcham FC to compete in our second Football tournament of the week. Haslemere, Bishop Gilpin and Holy Trinity brought along multiple teams, allowing us split everyone into 4 groups of 5..

Sports Leaders from year 9 and 10 at Rutlish were on hand to referee the matches and ensure the day ran smoothly, so we would like to extend a big thank you to them.

Group A: Garfield Wimbledon Chase, Haslemere Zebras, Liberty, Gorringe Park (Winners – Wimbledon Chase & Haslemere Zebras)

Group B: Bishop Gilpin Mid Blue, Holy Trinity, Poplar, Haslemere, St. Thomas (Winners – Poplar & Bishop Gilpin Mid Blue)

Group C -St. Peter & Paul, Bishop Gilpin Light Blue, Trinity FC, Singlegate, Pelham (Winners – Pelham & Bishop Gilpin Light Blue)

Group D – The Sherwood, St. Mary’s, Bishop Gilpin Navy Blue, Hillcross, William Morris (Winners – William Morris)

There was an individual winner of the REFSPECT award, as well as the team award. Emmanuel from St. Thomas of Canterbury was nominated by a member of staff from another school for his display of fair play and respect after a match. The team winner was William Morris.

The adults even got together for a photo to support the Football Association’s “Play Safe” campaign. Happy half term!
