Y3/4 Mini Red Tennis Borough Championships

29th April 2024

Following on from the Year 5/6 Championships, several children from years 3 and 4 gathered at the AELTC in Raynes Park for the Mini Red Borough Championships.

15 schools were placed into 3 groups of 5. In an extremely competitive competition, only the winners of each group would progress to play for the medals and trophy, so every point was crucial.

Group Stage Results

Group A: St. John Fisher, Bishop Gilpin, Joseph Hood, Pelham, St. Teresa’s

Group B: Holy Trinity, West Wimbledon, Poplar, The Priory, Morden

Group C: Wimbledon Chase, Wimbledon Park, Sacred Heart, Hatfeild, Aragon

The group of 3 schools that played for the medals and the trophy was tightly contested. Despite some great Tennis, it was Holy Trinity who had to settle for bronze. The final match between St. John Fisher and Wimbledon Chase would decide the competition winner. After 4 back and forth games, it was St. John Fisher who would be crowned as our 2023-24 champions.

The REFSPECT award combined votes from our sports leaders, as well as the other children who took part. Congratulations to West Wimbledon who were rewarded for their respectful behaviour and outstanding fair play at the tournament.

Thank you to all of our schools who attended the event. A special mention to Raynes Park High School, who not for the first time this year, provided excellent leaders to score the matches and offer encouragement to the participants.
