Our Merton SSP calendar of events came to a wonderful conclusion in July 2024 with our Rounders Development event on 1st July, our Inclusive Scatter-ball Festival on 8th July and finally the KS2 Teambuilding Challenge Day on 9th July.
17 teams from 12 schools took part in our final sports competition, the rounders development event at Old Ruts Sports Club and all showed superb effort and respect across the day. This in addition to our 12 teams at the Rounders Championships earlier in June at Raynes Park High School, totalled an incredible 29 teams and over 260 players representing their schools this summer at Rounders.
Our Inclusive Scatter-ball (a simplified version of rounders) took place at Harris Academy Morden with 12 teams from 9 schools attending. The purpose of our inclusive calendar of events is to enable further opportunities to those with SEND support needs as well as those who don’t usually get the chance to represent their school in sporting events. Thank you to all schools and staff for enabling your children, over 80 for this occasion, to attend these styles of sports festival.
Our final event of the academic was the Teambuilding festival at Harris Morden with 5 school making the rainy journey with their teams of up to 10 challengers! Our multi-station format of Mental, Physical, Mystery and Skill games all combined to test the group’s teamwork ability and crafted moments when individuals could create and develop communication techniques with one another. Thank you to our wonderful sports leaders from Harris for leading the activities and encouraging the children so well. A clip of the day can be viewed on our social media portals.
Thanks to all who have supported MSSP events this summer and we already cannot wait for more to come in 2024/25.
