The event was officiated by volunteer coaches from the club and teams split into 2 groups leading to a semi final and final for all.
Thank you to the 80 participants within the 8 teams from Abbotsbury, Hatfeild, Hillcross x 2, Poplar x 2 and St John Fisher x 2. All teams showed exceptional respect and determination for the game and can be proud of representing their school with outstanding sportsmanship.
Congratulations to Hatfeild Primary for being crowned with the REFSPECT Award for this years event – they showed superb spirit and resilience and their development as a team over the 5 games was significant. Well done to you all.
It was St John Fisher, entering with 2 teams, who managed to get both squads to the Gold place match with some terrific tag rugby tries scored from both teams along the way. Even in the final they could hardly be separated but it was their A team who pipped top spot with a 2 – 1 victory. This friendly rivalry pushed both teams to display some superb rugby that was certainly noticed by the onlooking coaches. Well done to all 20 of them for a well-deserved Gold and Silver double. Congratulations also to Abbotsbury who claimed 3rd place and to Poplar B in 4th. Hillcross enjoyed an inter team match for 5th/6th place with Hatfeild and Poplar A completing the fixtures.
A huge thanks again from MSSP to all involved in making this landmark event a success and we look forward to hosting more events at King’s Rugby Club in the future.
