Thank you for your response. ✨

On Wednesday 14th October, Tooting & Mitcham FC played host to our exciting Year 3/4 Girls’ Football Development Competition, bringing together more than 110 girls from 13 Merton schools for a fantastic day of football, teamwork and enjoyment.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for young players to develop their football skills in a fun and supportive environment. Schools competed in 5-a-side matches, with each game lasting eight minutes. Teams first took part in a round robin group stage before progressing into seeded groups, allowing them to play against other teams of a similar standard and ensuring competitive and enjoyable matches throughout the day.

The standard of football on display was outstanding, with players demonstrating excellent teamwork, determination and sportsmanship.

Well done to the teams who finished topped their groups:

  • Pelham Primary School
  • Hatfield Primary School
  • Singlegate Primary School
  • Poplar Primary School (Team A)

Congratulations to Bishop Gilpin Lights for finishing 3rd overall, St Mary’s in 2nd and our winners Pelham who will now go on with chance to represent Merton in the London Youth Games in March – all the very best to the team!

Alongside the football, positive behaviour and respect were recognised throughout the event. Congratulations to Holy Trinity CofE Primary School, who were awarded the REFSPECT Award for consistently demonstrating respect, encouragement and fair play throughout the competition.

A huge thank you also goes to the fantastic 7 Active Leaders from Raynes Park High School, whose enthusiasm, organisation and support helped ensure the day ran smoothly and created a positive experience for all participants.

Well done to every player who took part. It was wonderful to see so many girls representing their schools, developing their confidence and skills, and enjoying a memorable day of football. We look forward to seeing their continued progress at future events.
