On Monday 10th October the 2022-23 edition of the Merton Borough Cross-Country Competition took place on the fields of Morden Park Leisure Centre.
The event consisted of three competitions; the Year 3/4 age group, the Year 5/6 age group, then the Yr 7-11 age group for high schools.
30 schools took part across the three age groups with over 750 pupils taking part in total.
For the primary age groups, runners did exceptionally well to complete to laps of the course which averaged a total 1600m. For the secondary races, the course was extended into the larger field adding another kilometre and a half with students then returning in the original course to complete the 3k course.
Congratulations to all race winners, those placed 2nd – 10th and of course everyone for participating. Well done to Bishop Gilpin Primary School for winning the Year 6 team awards for both boys and girls and all the very best to our high school pupils who will progress to the Surrey Youth races. Good Luck to you all.
Many thanks to Merton Leisure Centre and ID Verde for the use of the facilities as well as Links Primary School for your continued support at this event with race results and placings. Your helps is so valuable to us and the logistics on the day.
