For 2024/25 MSSP have refined the competitions by merging some of the existing events with similar purposes. We encourage schools to attend as many events as possible to prove more experiences for more of their students especially those events positioned in their local area.
Cluster festivals will no longer be restricted to schools within that cluster so schools may chose any cluster events they wish to enter based on need and location.
Our competitive Swimming events will now be split into two locations ‘East’ (Morden Pool) and ‘West’ (Kings College School Pool) and specific schools can enter only their allocated events. Please see below for the list of schools which we have allocated to either the East or West of the borough for those specific events.
We will also continue to offer a range of events for children with differing needs, abilities and experience.
Type of Event:
- Festival – No overall winners (participation and development-based activities or games).
- Inclusive Festival – No overall winners (participation and development-based activities or games) targeted mainly for SEND or less experienced players.
- Festivals (Cluster Location) – regionalised by cluster locations but not limited to cluster schools – open to all schools to sign up to. Participation focus.
- Development Competition – Competitive event but for less experienced/developing players. These events may include overall or group winners. If children compete at this event they will not be permitted to compete at the Borough Championship competition for the same sport.
- Borough Championship – Competitive event with overall winners (Trophy and Medals) which may also be a qualifier for a regional round. If children compete at this event they will not be permitted to compete at the development competition for the same sport.
- Inclusive Borough Championship (SEND focus) – Competitive event with overall winners (Trophy and Medals) which may be a qualifier for a regional round. Participants will need to meet specific SEND criteria to be eligible.
- East and West Events – Schools allocated events based on location – East Merton or West Merton.
- Other – Schools are also encouraged to arrange fixtures with other local schools, and to enter leagues or other competitions which may be run by local clubs or School Sport Association. For more info please speak to the MSSP team.
