Event Information
Booking
- This is a Leaders Teambuilding Festival level event.
- If an event reaches capacity, schools will be placed on a waiting list and advised accordingly. MSSP will contact schools if places become available in the lead up to the event.
Event Eligibility
- This is Festival-based event with the intent of supporting Sports Leadership teams in Merton Schools.
- The intent and principles of the festival have been designed to support pupils learning of the different activities and not be restricted by enforcement of the rules.
Teams
- Age: KS2 Year 5/6
- Mixed gender event
- Squad size: 6-10 pupils per sports leadership team. Additional teams upon request.
- We are encouraging primary schools to attend this event with groups of prospective or existing groups of sports leaders.
Kit & Equipment
- All schools MUST provide their own First Aid kit along with a first aid qualified member of staff.
- Trainers/Astro moulded and studded boots are allowed. No metal blades will be permitted.
- No jewellery permitted. If eyewear is essential, it should be made from plastic rather than glass.
Rules
Teams are expected to work together to complete the rotation of team-building challenges and puzzles within the timeframe.
Activate Pathway
During the Activate Leaders day, plans will be shared with schools and sports leadership teams of all upcoming opportunities for students to support further MSSP events as coaches, officials and helpers.
Leaders will take part in a ‘event organiser challenge’ as well as have the chance to share their views on what activities they would like to see at future events and what games they would like to deliver to young children. The remaining ACTIVATE festivals will then be delegated to school leaders teams to attend and deliver to either Yr 3/4 or Yr 5/6 participants.
Awards
- Participation certificates will be presented to all participants
- REFSPECT Award certificates
Staffing and Spectators – IMPORTANT INFORMATION
- Due to a range of safeguarding concerns, spectators will not be permitted entry at any MSSP events as of 8th October 2025.
- Primary schools must inform parents in advance when inviting students to take part.
- All staff attending the event must have enhanced DBS clearance and have been fully vetted by their primary school.
- DBS numbers, full name and school photo ID will be required in advance by the host school for events on school sites.
- Upon arrival, all staff members must sign a Code of Conduct form to confirm their intent to support the safeguarding of children at MSSP events.
- Staff must complete a team-sheet ready for registration.
