Merton Abbey Primary and Harris Academy Wimbledon Leaders hosted a great festival on a bright, crisp day today. Around 100 children worked together in small teams of 6 or 7 to play Dodgeball, Gauntlet Ball, Cops & Robbers, Rob the Nest Hockey and End Ball (with Netball rules). After the original event was postponed due to terrible weather, we were lucky to be able to use the HAWi All Weather pitches (and avoid a lot of mud at Nursery Road!).
The Sports Leaders each managed a team and supported them around the circuit of games, with others officiating and explaining all the rules. They did a fab job and even gave a speech at the end to celebrate the performances of all the children and announce the REFSPECT winners – well done to Wimbledon Park Primary.
Schools attended included: St Mary’s, Bishop Gilpin, The Priory, Merton Abbey, All Saints, Wimbledon Park and Holy Trinity.
We hope the children learnt a lot about team work and enjoyed representing their schools!
