Gymnastics Borough Championships Yr 5/6

Event Information

This Yr 5/6 Competition will run alongside the Yr 3/4 Gymnastics Competition. If you plan to enter both events, please arrange at least 2 staff members to accompany your separate team of 4 participants (4 x Yr 5/6 and 4 x Yr 3/4)

Booking

• This is a Borough Championships level event.
• On the initial booking date, schools may enter either a Borough Championship or a Development Competition within each sport category.
• If an event reaches capacity, schools will be placed on a waiting list and advised accordingly.
• MSSP will contact schools if places become available in the lead up to the event.

Event Eligibility

• Schools are encouraged to select their strongest squad.
• School squads should be well prepared and have time to practise with the competition rules before attending this event.
• There is also a Rise Gymnastics Development Competition event being delivered this year.
• Please consider the most appropriate event for your pupils to attend before registering as you may only be able to take part in one event if entrees exceed capacity.
• Schools cannot select the same pupils for the Development Competition and the Borough Championships. In the instance that a Championship team player is also played in a Development Competition team, the team will not be able to progress to a medal winning position.
• If our Championship events exceed their capacity for school entrees, priority will be given to schools who are not registered for the Development Competition.
• It is our aim to ensure all schools can access at least one of the events.

Team Eligibility

• Age: Year 5/6
• Mixed gender event
• Squad Size: 4 pupils | 2 boys and 2 girls

Kit & Equipment

• All schools MUST bring their own First Aid kit and first aid qualified member of staff.
• No jewellery may be worn by gymnasts.
• Religious bands can be worn but must be covered by a sweatband.
• Long hair must be securely tied back.
• Gymnasts have the option of wearing gymnastics slippers.
• Gymnasts should be uniformly dressed in matching t-shirts and suitable gymnastics shorts/leotards.

Format & Rules

• LEVEL 4 – Core Skills: Floor Routine
• LEVEL 4 – Large Apparatus: Vault Only
• LEVEL 4 – Working Together: Pairs Routine

Pupils must base their routines and preparations from the LEVEL 4 set of options per discipline.

For LEVEL 4, choreography and music are optional, however, they will not be judged.

Awards and Results

Awards       

• Team Medals:
• Trophy & GOLD: 1^st place.
• SILVER: 2^nd place.
• BRONZE: 3^rd place.

• Certificates will be presented to all participants.

Results

• Results and event report will be available on the news webpage within 24 hours of the event ending.

Staffing and Spectators

• Spectators will not be permitted entry to the school/private sports facilities. Primary schools must inform parents in advance when inviting students to take part.
• All staff attending the event must have enhanced DBS clearance and have been fully vetted by their primary school. DBS numbers, full name and school will be required in advance by the host school.
