As part of our continued work with encouraging sports leadership opportunities in primary schools, for 2025-26 we are introducing ‘Activate’ Festivals.
Activate Festivals are available for schools to encourage identified groups of Year 5/6 Sports Leadership teams in Merton primary schools. This offer will support schools and their young leaders with the chance to assist Merton SSP at various multi-skill and multi-sport events throughout the year. These days will encourage team-work, leadership and coaching skills through planning and delivering activities to younger groups and their peers. We believe the skills gained will further enhance the support the young leaders can offer back in school with activities such as sports days, games festivals and general help.
MSSP are hosting an Activate Team-Building Festival in the Autumn term for selected school groups to begin their leadership journey. Following this will be a number or Activate skills festivals to continue their development. Groups will be encouraged to share ideas and create their own stations and games ready to deliver at the festivals. We trust this co-creation process and delivery on the days will be an encouraging step for our young people, learning valuable transferable skills for the future.
