Adapting PE for an inclusive offer – Supporting Physical and Neurodiversity needs in PE
The Merton School Sport Partnership aims to help all children to be able to reach their full potential in PE.
This year we are working to connect more with schools and teachers to offer support with ideas and resources for adapting PE and delivering PE to children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The purpose of the network is to offer the space for Merton school educators to share PE practices and ideas as well as ask questions for the challenges faced when planning and delivering lessons for children with physical and cognitive difficulties and impairments. We intend for this specific approach to build connections between schools and teachers to feel confident when approaching PE, Physical Activity and School Sport.
Do all staff in your school know how to adapt PE for all of their students’ SEND needs?
For the network to have the most impact for 2025, please encourage all staff members, coaches and deliverers of PE who are working with children with SEND to join our sessions as well as get in touch with any questions, queries and best practices that are in place in your school. This will enable us to know your areas of need, to be able to share ideas with those in similar circumstances and connect one another in our Merton Schools for further support.
Join us IN-PERSON | Thursday 24th April 2025 | 09:30 – 15:30 | Merton SEND PE Network | Adapting PE for an inclusive offer – Supporting Physical and Neurodiversity needs in PE
