Safeguarding and Child Protection

Ensuring young people have a positive experience in a safe environment

The Merton School Sport Partnership (MSSP) acknowledges the duty of care to safeguard, protect and promote the welfare of children and is committed to ensuring safeguarding practice reflects statutory responsibilities, government guidance and complies with best practice and Merton Schools’ requirements. MSSP are employed by Harris Academy Morden (HAMD) and as such, follow and adhere to the HAMD Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy which is updated annually. In addition, the Partnership’s work remit extends beyond the Academy to all state schools and academies within Merton with a particular emphasis on PE, physical activity and sport.

We recognise that the welfare and interests of children are paramount in all circumstances. We aim to ensure that all children and young leaders:

•             have a safe, positive and enjoyable experience of PE, sport or physical activity at any MSSP organised activities or events

•             are protected from abuse whilst participating or officiating at MSSP events

We are committed to do everything in our power to reduce all the kinds of harm that children can suffer, including abuse, bullying, discrimination and avoidable injuries.

Please see our Refspect page for more information about our anti-bullying programme or open the downloads below for more information on what to do if you are concerned and other documentation to support our safeguarding policies.
